England Soccer Team: Finally Got It right?

Following a slow start to Mr.Capello’s regime at the healms of England, the former Real Madrid manager has got England back into form. England sit currently at the top of their group, after 4 wins out of 4, their best start to any world cup. So the question is, has Capello got it right?

Starting off with the attack force, something that definitiley raced eyebrows was Micheal Owens exclusion from the squad, and the partnering of veteran Emile Heskey with Wayne Rooney. However, this has paid dividends, and the big man complimenting Rooney greatly, and his own worth ethic, can never be bemoaned.

The midfield is where England have it too lose. After severe testing, Capello still follows with the 3 man midfield of Barry, Lampard and Gerrard. Although partly due to the absence of Joe Cole, the imbalance in this midfield is too great. Either Gerrard or Lampard, and only one, should play alongside Barry, or even a player who’ll do the ‘dirty’ work such as Owen Hargreaves while the other pushes and attacks.

The defensive is an easier call, formatting of Wes Brown, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Ashley Cole. And in goal, David James, who although has had little to do, has claimed his stake as Englands permanent shot stopper.

Although having the midfield to sort out, England are way on track to a decent side.
